Session Details

What should I expect on the day of my session?
We will meet at the specified time at the chosen location the day of your session. We'll spend some time getting to know each other in an effort to make you more comfortable. If children are involved, I will make great efforts to befriend them and gain their trust. The session will last between 1 and 2 hours to insure a variety of quality photos. I want to make sure we are both satisfied with the results. We will take a mixture of posed and candid shots. It's a great idea to bring along books or activities(footballs, bubbles, kites, etc) that your family loves to incorporate into the session. This brings an authenticity to your photos and also makes children more comfortable. I love capturing genuine moments in addition to creatively posed shots. And don't be afraid to offer your own ideas during the session, too!
*Please note that during this time of portfolio building, I do require you to sign a model release at the time of your session. I can e-mail it to you prior to your session if requested. This will allow me to showcase your images on this website, my blog, or Facebook page.

When do I pay for my session?
Session fees are due at the time of booking to secure the date you have chosen. I offer PayPal via this website. Refunds are not available for session fees, but if you need to cancel or reschedule, your fee will be applied to a later date.

What should I wear?
Clothing can make or break your photos. Wear something flattering and something you feel confident in. Very busy patterns, neon colors, logos and ill fitting pieces will negatively affect your photos. For families, I suggest wearing coordinating outfits, but not "matching" outfits. It's a good idea to bring additional clothing in the event we have time for an outfit change, or we decide something else will work better for our surroundings.  I suggest using colors appropriate for the current season and avoiding all black or all white.

Do you provide a make-up artist for my session?
If you would like a professional make-up artist for the day of your session, please let me know so that I can make arrangements. Make-up artists charge their own fees separate from your photo session.

How should I prepare children for a session?
I always ask parents to bring snacks, extra clothes, and toys to their sessions. Make sure your children's faces are clean and avoid feeding them foods or candy that can stain mouths. Photoshop is a great tool but it can't fix everything :)

What happens after my session?
There's a lot of work on my end once your session is over. I'll have hundreds of photos to upload and review. I will choose the best ones to edit and present to you in a password-protected online gallery. This gallery will be availble within 2 weeks of your session. This gallery is where you will view 20-25 of the best photos, order and pay for your selections. Prints are available within 7 business days. We can schedule a pick-up or drop-off of your photos.
